AKIPRESS.COM - The epidemiological situation in Bishkek is serious and requires stepped up security measures, First Deputy Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov said at the meeting in the Bishkek mayor's office yesterday.
"The new COVID-19 cases are confirmed in the city every day, in many cases the source of infection is unknown. When almost all economic sectors reopened, public transport is working, big markets and shopping centers function, the virus is spreading in the city, the control over the situation may be lost easily. The actions should be taken to stabilize the situation," the First Deputy Prime Minister said.
The Bishkek authorities suggested closure of big markets for disinfection every week. They also suggested to consider launch of COVID-19 antibody tests, to register people visiting bath houses, swimming pools, gyms, to test public transport drivers, market and café workers for COVID-19.
The Orto-Sai market has been closed from June 10 to 13. It was closed after several people who tested positive for COVID-19 said they had visited the market.
Osh market may be closed for disinfection next. Several cases were detected there.
