AKIPRESS.COM - A 200-bed hospital for patients with COVID-19 has opened in Shymkent, Khabar 24 reported.
Minister of Health Yeljan Birtanov visited the hospital.
The construction of the hospital began in April. It has medical equipment such as magnetic resonance imaging machine, digital radiography, 20 lung ventilators.
The hospital has surgery rooms and delivery unit. Rooms for reanimation are open-spaced.
"Intensive care unit includes 20 places. Two of them are isolated. We're ready for patients," ICU's head Bekkazy Esimov said.
Before for patients with coronavirus in Shymkent 500 places in hospitals were organized. The number of infected people is growing however.
The first patients will arrive at hospital this week.
In future the children's multi-field clinic's department of infectious diseases will be accmmodated in the building.
As of June 10, 992 cases of COVID-19 were registered in Shymkent, 10 people died, 443 people recovered.
On April 3, Minister of Health Yeljan Birtanov during meeting of state emergency committee stated that infectious diseases hospitals will be built in Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Shymkent.
The hospital was constructed in Nur-Sultan for 12 days, in Almaty - for 18 days.
