AKIPRESS.COM - A charter flight from Nur-sultan, Kazakhstan with 175 passengers aboard landed just recently at 7 PM today, June 10, at the Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar. All 175 Mongolian nationals, including 4 infants, have been taken to designated isolation facilities in Ulaanbaatar as a precautionary measure to start their 21-day compulsory isolation, Montsame reports.
There were a total of 1,097 Mongolians in Kazakhstan, who requested to return to Mongolia.
The State Emergency Commission previously reported that repatriation is mutually beneficial for both Mongolia and Kazakhstan as the plane would depart from Ulaanbaatar, carrying citizens of Kazakhstan living in Mongolia, and return with Mongolian citizens in the country.
According to the decision made by the Government of Mongolia and the State Emergency Commission, six more charter flights are on the plan this month to South Korea, India, Germany and another yet-indefinite destination as there are more than 10,000 Mongolians stranded abroad caused by COVID-19 border restrictions.
