15 years in prison asked for ex-President Almazbek Atambayev, ex-Prosecutor General Indira Joldubayeva

AKIPRESS.COM - The proceedings into the case of illegal freeing of crime boss Aziz Batukayev from prison kicked off in the Pervomay district court of Bishkek on June 16.
The public prosecutor asked the judge of Pervomay district court of Bishkek to sentence ex-President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev to 15 years in prison, confiscation of property, and deprivation of state ranks and awards for organizing corruption charges.
The defendants include 19 people, including Atambayev, former prosecutor generals Aida Salyanova and Indira Joldubaeva and others.
Public prosecutor also asked 15 years in prison and confiscation of property for Indira Joldubaeva for organizing corruption.
Prosecutor also asked 13 years in prison for former advisor to the State Penitentiary Service Chairman Kalybek Kachkinaliyev and 13 years in prison for academician Abdukhalim Raimzhanov.
Aziz Batukayev was illegally released from prison in 2013 over fake leukemia diagnosis, authorities said. He partially served his term in Naryn prison until he was freed in 2013. Soon after his release, Batukayev fled the country and was declared internationally wanted. Batukayev had 8.3 years of prison term yet to be served.
