AKIPRESS.COM - Domestic violence problem will not be resolved solely by tightening of punishment, MP Ziyadin Jamaldinov (Onuguu-Progress) said in Parliament today. He referred to the hypothetic situation as example: "The husband and wife quarreled. The woman will report to police about fight. Then they reconciled, but the counter-report of the wife was not accepted. So we will destroy a family. Even if he is bad, but he has children. How will he return to his kids after detention? How will he forgive the wife who reported to police?"
The MP suggested that the option of counter-reports should be kept (allowing to stop prosecution).
"I am against destruction of a family as well. But here we are talking about the cases when harm to health of another person was caused. Even if people quarreled, nobody will be detained," MP Iskhak Pirmatov (Bir Bol) said.
"In case abuser causes a serious harm for health, the abuser will be arrested," he said.
MP Kamchibek Joldoshbaev objected to removal of the option of reconciliation of parties, when the case may be closed.
