Kyrgyzstan introduces new method for Covid-19 diagnostics

AKIPRESS.COM - A new method for coronavirus diagnostics is being introduced in Kyrgyzstan, said Deputy Health Minister Madamin Karatayev said at the briefing on June 26.
Two ‘Jen-expert' devices will be installed in the laboratory under National Phthisiology Center. 8 people may get test results within an hour, the test accuracy is 99%.
"This device was used to detect tuberculosis and sensitivity to rifampicin. We received 6,550 cartridges, which can determine not only tuberculosis, but also coronavirus. This is a prototype of PCR tests," he said.
According to Karataev, talks with the Global Fund to purchase 50,000 cartridges are ongoing.
"This method will allow to detect the coronavirus faster. We will hospitalize coronavirus patients to the state infectious hospital, hospital # 6 and the Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital. The citizens tested negative for coronavirus will be hospitalized to another hospital depending from clinical symptoms," Karatayev said.
