AKIPRESS.COM - President Sooronbai Jeenbekov today held the online meeting with Bishkek mayor Aziz Surakmatov to discuss COVID-19 situation in the capital and the actions taken for its stabilization, the president's press service reported. 3,434 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Bishkek up to date, which is 42% of all cases in the country, the mayor said.
Additional beds were arranged for coronavirus patients at various institutions, he added.
Recently opened 4 daytime in-patient facilities served more than 3,000 citizens. Five more facilities for 250 beds in total will be opened in near time. Possibility of opening of additional 5 facilities in the districts with the biggest number of cases is considered, according to the mayor.
Shortage of ambulance cars remains one of the most critical problems, the mayor said.
President Jeenbekov said all citizens seeking medical assistance should have equal access to healthcare services. The President suggested to mobilize additional resources to reduce queues in the daytime in-patient facilities and make their work more effective.
The President also underlined importance of preparation of hospitals for epidemiological situation with coming of cold season.
As for shortage of ambulance cars, the nation-wide operative team for coronavirus containment was recommended to study this problem and consider request of assistance from international development partners.
