AKIPRESS.COM - The European Union has transferred 24.8 million Euro grant to the government's treasury account in the framework of the budget support for education and social security sectors of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Finance Ministry reported.
This is part of the EU's COVID-19 emergency package of 36 million Euros approved for Kyrgyzstan.
The goal of assistance is mitigation of socio-economic effects of COVID-19 and reduction of budget deficit due to large budget shortfalls. The assistance will allow to finance urgent measures to cover the following expenditures:
1) transfers to the Health Insurance Fund in the amount of 1.356 billion soms to finance 230 healthcare organizations:
- to pay salaries to 71,631 medical workers providing care to people with COVID-19 for July (490 million soms in total);
- to purchase medical equipment, personal protective equipment, to support disinfection (640.9 million soms);
- to purchase medicines and medical supplies (205.4 million soms);
- to buy food products (5.7 million soms);
- to buy insulin and insulin-containing drugs (4 million soms);
2) to pay salaries to 7,472 medical workers of the Ministry of Health providing care to peopel with COVID-19 for July (57.5 million soms);
3) to pay benefits to 210,835 people for July (387 million soms);
4) transfers to the Social Fund to pay pensions to 30,684 pensioners for July (178.4 million soms);
5) timely payment of salaries to 17,915 education workers for July (137.1 million soms) and purchase of textbooks for 69 million soms.
