138 medical workers in Kazakhstan detained for illegal drug trade

AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakh police detained 138 medical workers who sold drugs illegally since July 5, Internal Minister Erlan Turgumbaev told President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a conference call, Akorda reports.
The Interior Minister reported to the President about actions taken to foil illegal drug trade and violation of quarantine restrictions.
The Internal Ministry and police organized more than 18,000 raids.
They seized 65,000 drugs, 500,000 medical masks, 36,000 medical equipment items, which were sold for ungroundedly high prices.
"Police department suppressed 348 cases of illegal trade of drugs. 284 individuals including 138 medical workers were detained. Police seized large stocks in Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Karaganda, Atyrau and sent them to territorial healthcare department," he said.
