Unemployment rate drops 15.1% in Mongolia

AKIPRESS.COM - The number of registered unemployed citizens in Mongolia decreased for 3,500 people or by 15.1% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the National Statistics Committee.
The number of unemployed people reached 19,563 people by June 2020. This is the lowest level for the past 5 years. In June 2019, the number of unemployed people across Mongolia made 23,000.
Despite anticipated growth of unemployment due to COVID-19 outbreak and restrictions in work for many organizations, the number of job seekers and people registered at employment services in Ulaanbaatar and aimags dropped.
5,600 new unemployed people registered in June, according to employment services.
2,200 people were employed in June, Montsame reported.
