Mass events prohibited during 2020 parliamentary election campaign

AKIPRESS.COM - Mass events are not allowed during 2020 parliamentary election campaign, Central Election Commission Chairperson Nurjan Shaildabekova said on the Birinchi Radio today.
The mass events mean both concerts and sport events, she added.
"This prohibition is the initiative of several lawmakers with the purpose to reduce the influence of financial factor on will expression by citizens. Mass events were often a part of the election campaigns before, but they did not help citizens learn more about political parties, but demonstrated just financial possibilities. This negatively impacted will expression of citizens," the CEC Chair added.
The parliamentary elections are set for October 4.
