AKIPRESS.COM - Export of Tajik electricity to Afghanistan has decreased since July 27, Director of Barki Tojik energy holding Mirzo Ismoilzoda said.
The export decreased at the same time with water flow into the Vakhsh River. Export of electricity to Uzbekistan has also decreased since July 16, head of the Barki Tojik holding added.
Barki Tojik reported that inflow of water to the Vakhsh River has decreased by several percent in May, which is why the inflow to the Nurek hydropower plant has also decreased.
Breshno company, which provides electricity for the regions in Afghanistan, earlier reported that Tajikistan reduced electricity export by 90%.
Tajikistan used to export 320 MW to Afghanistan every day. Since Monday the energy amount dropped to 40 MW, the Afghan company said.
The Afghan provinces of Kabul, Nangarhar, Lagman, Lugar, Paktika, Parwan, Panjshir, Kapisa and Baghlan use electricity supplied by Tajikistan.
Afghanistan claimed that they are currently negotiating electricty import with Uzbekistan.
The head of Barki Tojik energy holding said that the electricity of Nurek plant has been used mainly for domestic needs since the beginning of the year. Electricity exports decreased by 324.9 million kWh compared to last year.
546 million kWh of electricity were exported to Afghanistan, 358 million kWh to Uzbekistan, Mirzo Ismoilzoda noted.
