Bishkek city court upholds 11-year prison term for ex-President Atambayev in Batukayev's case

AKIPRESS.COM - The Bishkek city court upheld the ruling of the first instance court for ex-President Almazbek Atambayev in Aziz Batukayev's illegal release case on August 14.
Former Prosecutor General Indira Joldubaeva was found guilty of power abuse and was fined 5 million soms.
Doctor Abduhalim Raimjanov was announced guilty of concealment of crime. He was not handed any punishment since the period of limitation expired for criminal prosecution.
Ex-advisor of the State Penitentiary Service Chairman Kalybek Kachkynaliev was found guilty of involvement into corruption. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison, but was released in courtroom since the term of custody expired.
The Pervomaiskiy district court earlier announced ex-President Almazbek Atambayev guilty of corruption and sentenced him to 11 years and 2 months in prison and revoke of all state awards.
Aziz Batukayev was sentenced to 16 years, 8 months and 15 days in prison by the Alamedin district court on August 3, 2006. He was accused of being accessory to murder of MP Tynychbek Akmatbaev, prison chief Ikmatulla Polotov and 2 workers of the Parliament in October 2005 during mass disorders in the prison in Moldovanovka village.
Batukayev was serving his prison term in the remand prison No. 4 in Naryn, but was released in 2013 on fake diagnosis of leukemia. He left Kyrgyzstan on private plane. It was found out later the tests results and medical certificate were forged.
