AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan has not recorded lethal cases from coronavirus on August 20, the nation-wide operative team for coronavirus containment said.
"The lethal case announced by Deputy Health Minister Nurbolot Usenbaev during a briefing today was recorded and included into the tally of lethal cases on August 19. The total number of lethal cases made 1,054," said the report.
Last time Kyrgyzstan did not record lethal cases on June 25, which was announced during a press briefing by the Ministry of Health on June 26. However, from March to June the official statistics did not include lethal cases among citizens who either tested negative for coronavirus or were not tested at all, but died from community-acquired pneumonia, despite pneumonia was caused by coronavirus.
Thus, for the first time during the last 54 days Kyrgyzstan did not have lethal cases from COVID-19.
The end of June and whole July saw the peak of cases and lethal cases. Hospitals were filled beyond the capacity. Patients died almost at the doorstep of hospitals. The country faced a critical shortage of oxygen concentrators, medicines, medical workers.
Since July 3, the Ministry of Health began publishing reports on lethal cases from pneumonia. On July 17, the Health Ministry announced it consolidates statistics on COVID-19 and community-acquired pneumonia leading to spike in cases.
The Health Ministry revised lethal cases from coronavirus lately and found out 29% of lethal cases among coronavirus patients were caused by reasons other than pneumonia and COVID-19. The tally of lethal cases dropped to 1,054 cases.
If previous tally of lethal cases is used, the death toll will make 1,499 cases.
