Presidents of Turkmenistan, Pakistan discuss TAPI project

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with President of Pakistan Arif Alvi, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH) reports. The parties highlighted the progressive dynamics of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, in particular the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project.
To date, construction and installation works are under completion in Turkmenistan. Recently, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan have signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the selection of land plots on the Afghan site of the TAPI project with the aim to facilitate the intensification of work on the territory of the neighboring country.
President Berdimuhamedov suggested to hold a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Pakistani Commission in the nearest future.
