AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan sees surge in new coronavirus cases, Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov told a briefing today. "The situation is stable yet. As of September 23, some 45,630 COVID-19 cases were registered, 41,904 recovered, 1,063 died," the Prime Minister said.
Spike in new cases is observed in Batken, Issyk-Kul and Jalal-Abad regions.
"Despite the efforts of government agencies, people do not follow sanitary norms. The hard days are forgotten. People resumed holding celebrations and receptions, stopped wearing masks in public places and public transport," the Prime Minister said.
During the July peak of cases, 9 among every 10 in the street wore masks, the Prime Minister said.
"Let's not forget those hard days. Let this pass away from us, but we need to be vigilant. The situation in the neighboring countries arouses concerns," Boronov said.
The Prime Minister urged citizens to wear masks, maintain social distancing and avoid crowded places.
