AKIPRESS.COM - The authorities ordered not to capture Almazbek Atambayev alive during the storming of his house in Koi-Tash village, former Deputy Interior Minister Kursan Asanov said in an interview with Sputnik.
"I made a "mistake" and detained Atambayev alive. It says it all. I don't want to say anything else," he said.
He said he has enough materials for the trial on his criminal case.
The Koi-Tash events saw storming of ex-President Almazbek Atambayev's residence to detain him. The first storming by SWAT soldiers on August 7 left dozens injured and 1 national security task force officer dead. 6 SWAT soldiers were taken hostage and released the next day. The second storming by Interior Ministry police on August 8 ended with Atambayev's arrest.
Asanov was sacked on August 13, 2019 for betrayal of police interests and loss of trust. Then Interior Ministry Kashkar Junushaliyev said Asanov was sacked for unauthorized intervention in surrender negotiations of Junushaliyev with Atambayev on August 8, 2019 in Koi-Tash village.
Criminal probe was launched against Asanov on August 14, 2019.
