Raimbek Matraimov detained on suspicion of corruption

AKIPRESS.COM - Former Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service Raimbek Matraimov was detained by the Anti-Corruption Service of the National Security Committee on suspicion of corruption, the Committee said on October 20.
It was established that from early 2016 to the present day, the ex-Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service Raimbek Matraimov and other officials of the State Customs Service created a corruption scheme for gaining illegal wealth from customs administration resulting in damage to the state budget in a particularly large amount, the statement said.
Previously on October 19, the National Security Committee said about 40 close associates of Matraimov were identified and located, the statement said. Their involvement in the corruption scheme is being established. Total size of damage is being calculated.
Raim Matraimov is former Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service nicknamed Raim-Million for his alleged wealth he gained due to corruption schemes in the customs administration. He was sacked in November 2017 over the loss of government's trust.
