AKIPRESS.COM - The report saying no vacant beds remained in hospitals for patients with COVID-19 in Bishkek does not correspond to reality, the Health Ministry's press service reported.
As of 8.00 a.m. of October 21, there were 413 vacant beds in hospitals of Bishkek, including 278 vacant beds in National Infectious Disease Hospital, 33 beds in National Cardiology and Therapy Center, 21 beds in National Maternal and Child Healthcare Center.
This statement came after volunteers said the hospitals in Bishkek do not admit patients with coronavirus since they are full.
Head of Intensive Care Department of the Bishkek Emergency Healthcare Center Egor Borisov said the volunteers did not contact the Emergency Healthcare Center.
"We need to realize that ambulance is not just a taxi with flashing light and siren, it means delivery of pre-hospital assistance, preliminary diagnosis and hospitalization of a patient to the hospital where such patient will be admitted," Egor Borisov explained.
For this reason doctors with medical education work in the Bishkek Emergency Healthcare center, who are qualified to help.
"The ambulance service functions as normally. All calls are responded. None of patients remains unattended. Right, there may be delays in response, but only in case patients are not in critical condition. We work as normally, providing care to patients with coronavirus and pneumonia among them, there are enough beds in hospitals," he said.
The Bishkek Emergency Healthcare Center receives 500-600 calls a day. More than 100 patients are hospitalized daily.
