AKIPRESS.COM - The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan today has approved ex-MP Elvira Surabaldieva for Deputy Prime Minister.
Elvira Surabaldieva ceded her parliamentary mandate on October 27.
She will replace Aida Ismailova in government, who supervised social bloc.
Outlinining her first steps as Deputy Prime Minister, Elvira Surabaldieva said she would focus on health care and education.
"Lots of complaints are received today on medical issues, shortage of doctors, this issue should be reconsidered. I do not want to be a populist, but in view of a budget deficit, we need to keep the current payments. As for reopening of schools and universities, we need to follow recommendations of epidemiologists first," Elvira Surabaldieva stated.
She added reopening of schools will be considered in view of opinions of parents and COVID-19 situation in particular parts of the country.
