Ex-Speaker Jumabekov disapproves poll on reopening of schools held by Deputy PM Surabaldieva in social media

AKIPRESS.COM - Ex-Speaker Dastan Jumabekov (Kyrgyzstan) has cricitized the poll held by Deputy Prime Minister Elvira Surabaldieva on her Facebook page.
"You are very active in social media and held a poll whether to open schools or not. Why have you held such poll?" MP Jumabekov asked.
Deputy Prime Minister Elvira Surabaldieva responded reopening of schools is widely discussed. Parents of schoolchildren in remote regions free from coronavirus ask to reopen schools.
"As people's representatives you ask us to be open, accessible. I held the poll only for this reason," Elvira Surabaldieva explained.
"Of course, you are right. But if children fall ill tomorrow, you won't be able to say people should be blamed for that. You will be responsible for that and decision should be made by you. This is not referendum to hold polls," Jumabekov said.
He said it is wrong to hold polls on such matters.
67% of parents who participated in the poll supported reopening of schools, 33% were against restart of traditional classes.
