AKIPRESS.COM - "Kyrgyzstan's agriculture has a huge potential in the Eurasian Economic Union market, but unfortunately we only unlocked just less than 10%," Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Tilek Toktogaziyev said October 30 during a press conference in Bishkek.
"Due to natural conditions and limited resources, we can not compete with neighboring states in some industries. The state should help enterprises so that they could move to new industries," he said.
He brought an example of a peasant farm engaged in seed production and cultivation.
"We talked to the director, who says that producers started focusing on garlic moving away from grain crops. Subsidies are offered to those farmers who want to buy seeds. This is done so that farmers can buy better seeds. Farms are moving to more marginal and profitable industries slowly," he added.
