AKIPRESS.COM - The protest action against the statements made by French President Emmanuel Macron was held in Bishkek.
About 250 came to the protest action, which was organized by activist Abdulhamit. He said the action was organized to voice their demands.
"The President of France should apologize to Muslims, whom he insulted. Our power, which we elected, should communicate our demand," he said.
Ex-MP Tursunbai Bakir Uulu said no other world leaders insultated Islam. "There are outstanding writers, scholars, who never wrote and said bad things about Islam and did not make caricatures. If Macron had respected his people and interests, he would not have said such things," Tursunbai Bakir Uulu said.
Similar protest actions were held in Osh and Jalal-Abad.
President Macron unveiled a plan to defend France's secular values against what he termed as "Islamist radicalism", saying the religion was "in crisis" all over the world, prompting a backlash from Muslim activists. Macron faced further backlash when after the murder of Samuel Paty, he defended the caricatures of Muhammad by Charlie Hebdo.
