AKIPRESS.COM - Population and housing census in Kyrgyzstan is postponed until 2021, the National Statistical Committee reported.
The census was planned from March 23 to April 1 initially, but was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
It was delayed until July 2020, but Kyrgyzstan saw the peak of coronavirus cases in that time and the census was delayed again.
The census was supposed to be held electronically via mobile application. The laptops were returned to the State Registration Service for 4 October parliamentary elections. The National Statistical Committee planned to hold census after the palriamentary elections, but since the election results were invalidated and use of laptops for census will be possible only upon conduct of the snap presidential elections, repeat parliamentary elections and local council elections, the census was postponed until 2021.
