AKIPRESS.COM - Five cases of vote buying during the October parliamentary elections were sent to court, Prosecutor General Kurmankul Zulushev said.
166 violations of the electoral process were registered in total, most of the cases are related to the Form 2 (application on change of polling station).
Pre-trial proceedings are under way, no one has been brought to justice yet, he said.
On October 5, thousands of protesters took to central square in Bishkek to protest against the results of parliamentary elections after 7%-threshold was passed by only 3 mainly pro-government parties. Protesters accused the winning parties of vote buying. In the evening of that day, clashes occurred between riot police and protesters. At least 1000 were injured and 1 civilian died of injuries, according to the Ministry of Health.
Jailed politicians, including ex-President Almazbek Atambayev and ex-MP Sadyr Japarov, were freed by their supporters.
On October 6, the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan annulled the parliamentary election results. President, Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament resigned.
Sadyr Japarov became acting President and Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan. Atambayev was rejailed.
