Film director Sadyk Sher-Niyaz decides to run for President of Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - Ex-MP Sadyk Sher-Niyaz submitted documents to the Central Election Commission to run in the snap presidential elections as a self-nominated presidential candidate.
Film director Sadyk Sher-Niyaz was member of the current Parliament, he ceded his mandate to vacate a seat in Parliament for Omurbek Tekebayev, whose mandate was reinstated by the Central Election Commission.
"I will support Sadyr Japarov if he continues the path of parliamentary republic," Sadyk Sher-Niyaz told reporters.
He added he will support Sadyr Japarov if the latter reduces the election threshold for political parties to obtain seats in Parliament to 1% and will work on real independence of the court system.
"I am not the person who looks for a post. I struggle for idea. However, if Japarov pursues his own interests, I will go until the very end," he said.
The Central Election Commission received documents from 16 self-nominated presidential elections before.
The snap presidential elections were set for January 10, 2021.
