Kazakhstan to begin COVID-19 vaccination en masse in 2021

AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan will begin mass voluntary vaccination against COVID-19 from the beginning of 2021, the president's administration said.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was reported by the Prime Minister on the ongoing development of Kazakhstan's vaccine against coronavirus infection.
PM announced completion of the 1st and 2nd phases of clinical trials of the vaccine on November 29. PM Askar Mamin said no side effects were found, and the vaccine shows high efficiency.
3,000 volunteers will be vaccinated starting from December 25 as part of the 3rd phase of clinical trials, which will be completed by the end of March 2021.
In December this year the production of the first batch of Kazakh vaccine in the amount of 2 million doses will begin.
Additionally, in accordance with the agreement of Kazakhstani President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev with Russian President Vladimir Putin, production of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V will start in Kazakhstan on December 22, 2020.
Voluntary vaccination will start in early 2021 with the groups at most risk to the infection, including doctors, teachers and law enforcement officials.
