Kyrgyz Supreme Court judge held for illegal wealth, luxury houses, cars, resorts, vacations abroad

AKIPRESS.COM - The National Security Committee's anti-corruption service detained a Supreme Court judge Kamil Osmonaliev for illegal wealth, the GKNB reported.
Kamil Osmonaliev had purchased numerous properties, including luxury real estate in the VIP-town, apartments from construction companies, cottages in prestigious resorts in Issyk-Kul, commercial facilities in the malls, as well as luxury cars without having appropriate sources of income, the statement said.
The judge and his close relatives were also travelling to the resorts of the UAE, Turkey, Asian countries and the United States.
In order to hide his illegal wealth, the suspect did not register transactions with relevant state authorities, and in some cases, registered sales contracts under the third persons who also had no confirmed sources of income.
He was also established to have given undeclared $150,000 to one commercial organization in order to carry out joint business activities.
"The judge also cancelled the interim government's decree on nationalization of a part of the property belonging to the family of Maksim Bakiyev causing multimillion damage to the state. At the same time, it was established that the suspect received a part of the property subject for nationalization as a reward for this ruling," the statement said.
On December 15, the Pervomai district court of Bishkek authorized the judge's detention.
