AKIPRESS.COM - Voters in Kyrgyzstan need to get registered at the place of actual residence to vote in the upcoming presidential elections and referendum, State Registration Service Vice Chair Ainura Tuibaeva said.
More than 400,000 citizens voted at the place of their actual residence and not place of registration during the past 4 October parliamentary elections having submitted the form #2. "We know that many of them abused this form for some reasons, this is why the form #2 was abolished for use in Kyrgyzstan," the State Registration Service Vice Chair said.
For example, a citizen may live and work in Bishkek, but may be registered in Osh. In order to vote in Bishkek, this citizen needs to get registered at the place of residence in Bishkek or will have to travel to Osh to vote at the place of registration, she explained.
Citizens who have registered their place of residence and biometric information will be included into the voter list, Central Election Commission Vice Chairman Abdyjapar Bekmatov said.
He referred to the law on internal migration, which requires from citizens to register at a new place of residence within 45 days after arrival.
Citizens have 15 days to get registered at a new place of residence and obtain a new passport. The information in voter lists should be checked and any mistakes in such information should be corrected before December 29, the CEC Vice Chairman said.
