98 prisoners released under amnesty in Kyrgyzstan this year

AKIPRESS.COM - 60 prisoners were released on amnesty on occasion of hte 75th anniversary of the World War II Victory Day, State Penitentiary Service Chairman Askat Egemberdiev said.
The prison sentences for near 800 convicts were shortened.
Besides, more than 1,800 pardon applications were sent to the commission of pardons under the President of Kyrgyzstan. As a result, the prison terms for 230 convicts were shortened, 38 prisoners were released. They included mainly people convicted for posession of soft drugs, hooliganism and other minor crimes, Askat Egemberdiev claimed.
