Aksy district governor resigns amid protests

AKIPRESS.COM - Aksy district governor Esenaly Ormonaliev has tendered resignation, Jalal-Abad region governor Absattar Syrgabaev said.
His resignation was demanded by protesters, who rallied since January 2. "The district governor said he decided to resign after demands of people. His letter of resignation was sent to the head of government for consideration. We met the demands of protesters," he said.
Aksy district police chief Shekerbek Tangirov was dismissed from his post.
Around 200 protesters blocked the Aksy-Ala-Buka road yesterday demanding to release two men, who were taken into custody following mass disorders in Kerben on October 7 and wounding a man, who died later.
"We can't interfere into work of courts. If the two suspects are innocent, they will be released," the region governor said.
