Covid-19 situation stable in Kyrgyzstan for a month

AKIPRESS.COM - COVID-19 situation is stable in Kyrgyzstan for the last month. Health care system functions as normally, Deputy Health Minister Nurbolot Usenbaev told a press briefing today. Yet, the effective reproductive number is nearing 1, which may lead to surge in daily coronavirus cases, he said.
The Deputy Health Minister talked about new variant of coronavirus infection recorded in the UK.
"41 countries registered this new variant of COVID-19. Its transmission rate is almost twice higher. Many countries had to reintroduce lockdowns. Russia registered the first case of this COVID-19 variant yesterday," he said.
Kyrgyzstan requires medical certificates with negative PCR test results for COVID-19 for passengers arriving into the country.
"There were questions about effectiveness of used PCR tests, but it turned out they remain as effective as before," he said.
