Reduction of university tuition fees impossible, Kyrgyz Education Ministry says

AKIPRESS.COM - Reduction of university tuition fees is raised now since ongoing online studies, Deputy Minister of Education and Sicence Nurlan Omurov told a press conference today in Bishkek. Organization of the learning process requires funds for payment of salaries to faculty, creation of infrastructure and resources, development of servers, education platforms, online materials, etc.
"It is also necessary to advance professional development of faculty. They need digital skills, gadgets. Transition to remote learning does not lead to reduction in salaries of faculty. Salaries should even grow. Remote learning does not mean reduction of faculty in number," the Deputy Education Minister said.
It is impossible to reduce tuition fees, he said.
Colleges and universities agreed to extend the deadline for payment of tuition for the first half of the year, he added.
It was announced earlier students of Kyrgyzstan demanded reduction of tuition fees.
