AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held virtual talks with Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment Khalid Al-Falikh.
The talks addressed the current bilateral cooperation and its prospects in commerce, economic, investment, energy, cultural, humanitarian spheres, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan said.
An experience of Saudi companies in energy sector of Uzbekistan was praised. The agreement was reached with ACWA Power on March 5, 2020 on construction of $1.2 billion worth thermal power plant in Syrdarya region.
"The project of ACWA Power is a successful example of our cooperation. We should not limit only with projects in energy sector. We expect concrete results from upcoming bilateral events, which could boost our partnership in different spheres," Khalid Al-Falikh said.
The Saudi side expressed interest in expansion of investment cooperation and establishment of business ties between two countries. The agreement was reached on visit of the Saudi Minister of Investment to Uzbekistan with the delegation of Saudi busnessmen before the end of January.
The business forum, the first meeting of the business council, G2G, G2B, B2B meetings will be held during this visit.
The ground breaking ceremony will be held at the site of construction of the thermal power plant in Syrdarya region, the investment agreement will be signed with ACWA Power on construction of $1.4 billion worth wind farm in Uzbekistan, opening of energy college in Shirin are planned during this visit as well.
