AKIPRESS.COM - Coronavirus might peak in Kazakhstan in late March 2021, according to Minister of Health of Kazakhstan Alexei Tsoy. Up to 3,000 daily cases of coronavirus are expected according to best-case scenario. The number of taken bedspace at hospitals might reach 24,000. However, no strict quarantine restrictions are planned in this case.
In worst-case scenario, daily cases of coronavirus might reached 6,000-9,000 cases. Up to 45,000 beds in hospitals might be taken, though 52,000 beds are available for coronavirus patients, he noted.
"If worst-case scenario would come true, strict quarantine measures are planned in order to avoid overloading of the health care system," Minister said.
So far, the number of COVID-19 cases in Kazakhstan reached 170 098, including 154 449 recoveries and 2 349 deaths.
