AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbaev received the Ambassador, Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Peter Burian as part of his participation in the inauguration of the newly elected President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the Foreign Ministry said. The Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude for the prompt response of the EU and statements of its additional support for emergency needs in the fight against coronavirus and appealed to the EU for support in vaccinating the population of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Ruslan Kazakbaev noted that the Kyrgyz Republic, as a country firmly committed to democratic development, a tough fight against corruption, protecting human rights and freedoms, is particularly interested in further cooperation with the European Union in all areas of interaction.
The European side noted that the EU welcomes the stabilization of the political situation in the Kyrgyz Republic and is committed to continue to provide all possible assistance to the Kyrgyz side.
Issues on the implementation of projects within the framework of the Kyrgyz Republic's use of the opportunities of the GSP + status provided by the European Union were discussed.
The parties noted the need to continue building up the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EU, including within the EU project and program activities in the Kyrgyz Republic.
