AKIPRESS.COM - "We need to solve the issue with relocation of the remand prison #1 outside Bishkek and construction of a new building for the remand prison," acting Deputy Prime Minister Elvira Surabaldieva said during visit to the prison today.
"Incarceration conditions are very bad. The infrastructure is outdated. The major repair of the building was not made since long time ago. Such conditions are hard for people held there and prison workers. The condition of cells is poor. We need to intensify work on reolocation of the remand prison and construction of a new remand prison in several stages," Deputy Prime Minister Surabaldieva said.
The Deputy Prime Minister reviewed the medical facility, kitchen, cells and other infrastructure of the remand prison.
The remand prison has a laboratory. Medical workers were trained on making PCR tests for coronavirus infection. Many international and public organizations provided humanitarian aid to the remand prison to contain spread of COVID-19.
