AKIPRESS.COM - Over 1.6 million migrants from Uzbekistan work abroad now, the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction reported.
Some 1,678,400 migrant workers from Uzbekistan worked abroad as of January 1, 2021. This is for 782,400 people less than at the beginning of 2020.
Women make 481,100 or 28.7% of migrant workers. Young men make 993,700 or 59.2%.
Top-5 countries where migrant workers from Uzbekistan work include Russia - 1,192,800 workers (71%), Kazakhstan - 209,300 (12%), South Korea - 62,300 (4%), Turkey - 43,200 (3%), UAE - 5,200 (0.3%). 165,600 migrants work in other countries.
Most migrant workers are engaged in construction (49%), industry (11%), trade and services (10.4%), agrarian sector (7.8%), other spheres (20.9%).
