Sebat schools to continue their work in Kyrgyzstan - Minister

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan needs to try to keep Sebat schools, MP Samat Ismanov said at the meeting of the Constitutional Legislation Committee today during consideration of the composition, structure and program of the next government of Kyrgyzstan.
"Turkish Maarif Foundation is going to build schools. They will compete with Sebat schools. You should keep these schools, since children of our citizens study there," the MP told acting Minister of Education and Science Almazbek Beishenaliev.
"Turkey always provided a huge support to Kyrgyzstan. We all know with whom we are associated. We have nothing to do with that person. I graduated from Sebat school and have not heard anything about that person [Fethullah Gülen] for 4 years of studies," MP Ismanov said.
Acting Minister of Education and Science Almazbek Beishenaliev said the agreement was signed by the Presidents of two countries in 2018.
"The agreement was also signed between the governments. Under these agreements, Maarif Foundation will build schools. Sebat schools will continue their work as well, there are no any problems here," Minister Beishenaliev said.
Turkish authorities link Sebat schools, Ata-Turk Alatoo University in Kyrgyzstan with Fethullahçı Terör Örgütü (FETÖ), this is an alleged Gülenist terrorist group, which Turkish government blames for the failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016.
