Tajikistan increases Uzbek gas imports

AKIPRESS.COM - Tajikistan plans to buy 250 million cubic meters of natural gas from Uzbekistan in 2021, Tajiktransgas Vice Chairman Shavkat Shoimov said.
"The agreement on delivery of 250 million cubic meters of gas was purchased between Tajiktransgas and Uztransgas," he told reporters.
This is 11% more than the volume of gas imported last year.
Tajikistan increased import of gas from Uzbekistan by 40% in 2020 and purchased 225 million cbm of gas. Many enterprises in the north of the country received gas for the first time for the past 10 years.
Around 20 enterprises receive gas in Tajikistan now, Tajik Aluminum Company and Dushanbe combined heat and power plant among them.
In 2012, Uzbekistan halkted supply of gas to Tajikistan. Gas supplies resumed in September 2018.
