AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has been elected Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank. Earlier, in October 2020, Sardor Umurzakov was elected Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The Islamic Development Bank group includes Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector, International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation, Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit, Islamic Research and Training Institute. It was founded in 1974 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Members of the Islamic Development Bank include 57 countries. Key areas of activities include financing of major infrastructure and socially important projects in strategic economic sectors.
