AKIPRESS.COM - Mayor's office of Bishkek asks the government to change the algorithms so that schools and kindergartens in Bishkek reopen in full, vice mayor Aijan Chynybaeva said at the meeting on February 15 on possible reopening of schools.
"The mayor's office tries to reopen schools since autumn. All necessary work was done by the mayor's office, including repair of schools. But Bishkek is the most densely populated city in Kyrgyzstan. We can't observe algorithms when students are required to be seated in 1-1.5 distance from each other," the vice mayor said.
She reminded that some grades resumed offline classes since January 18. The situation is monitored since then.
"We wanted to reopen all schools and kindergartens on February 1. But you know that a new COVID-19 variant is circulating in the world. The epidemiological authorities advised against reopening of schools. We are monitoring the situation, register coronavirus cases. This is a big responsibility," Aijan Chynybaeva stated.
Flu season joined coronavirus pandemic, she added. Children's hospitals are full, she added.
