AKIPRESS.COM - Over 63,000 foreign students or 29% of all students studied in higher educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan since start of 2020-2021 academic year, according to the National Statistics Committee. The bulk of these students, around 44,000 students or 69%, make students from teh CIS countries, whose number grew 5.4 times for the past 5 years.
A significant growth in number of students from Uzbekistan is reported: their share grew fro 7% to 86%.
At the same time the number of students from Kazakhstan dropped from 57% to 5% compared to the beginning of 2016-2017 academic year.
The share of students from non-CIS states grew from 6,000 to 19,000 or 3 times for the past 5 years.
The share of students from India dropped from 73% to 63%, whereas the number of students from Pakistan grew from 6% to 31%.
