AKIPRESS.COM - The General Consulate of Turkey was opened in Samarkand on March 7.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Samarkand mayor Erkinjon Turdimov.
The General Consulate will work on development of investment, commercial, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Turkey and Uzbekistan.
Opening of the General Consulate of Turkey in Samarkand was envisioned by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of 18 August 2020. The document foresees expansion of technical assistance of the government of Turkey to Uzbekistan.
Turkish experts will be involved into improvement of management of medical facilities, strengthening of regulatory framework in seismology, introduction of international standards in construction of roads and infrastructure, transfer of the best solutions and technologies of Turkey in e-government.
Turkey opened the biggest number of foreign companies in Uzbekistan in 2020. According to the State Statistics Committee, 305 Turkish ventures started business in Uzbekistan (1,705 foreign companies opened in total).
Russia launched 265 new ventures, China launched 147 ventures.
As of February 1, the number of companies with Turkish capital in Uzbekistan makes 1,611.
