AKIPRESS.COM - Almaty city is toughening quarantine due to the COVID-19 as the city entered the red zone, said Assel Kalykova, Head of Almaty's Sanitary Epidemiological Department.
The recent holidays have negatively affected the COVID-19 situation in the city, she told Kazinform.
Mass gatherings and events will be banned in the city as the country prepares to celebrate the national holiday Nauryz.
The city will toughen the quarantine and restrictions by issuing a new order of the chief medical officer aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19, she said.
Kazakhstan reported a total of 220,018 cases of coronavirus so far.
