MP criticizes government for inaction amid food price hikes in Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - MP Omurbek Bakirov accused the government of inaction amid food price hikes at a parliamentary session on March 11.
He said no actions are taken to curb food price hikes and ensure food security.
"People are concerned about rising prices, they are outraged by the government. Prices for flour, oil, sugar, even gasoline, went up, everything is getting increasingly expensive," he said.
He reminded that Kyrgyzstan imports 80 percent of products. "The government should have developed some mechanism," he said.
The Department of Food Security under the Ministry of Agriculture must do something, according to the MP.
