AKIPRESS.COM - President Sadyr Japarov today laid flowers at the monument in memory of those who died during Aksy tragedy in March 2002 and April 2010 events at Ala-Too Square in Bishkek.
"Aksy events have entered history as a landmark in democratic development of our country. We may call them historic episode that launched nation-wide struggle against injustice that led to March and April revolutions, popular riot in October 2020," President Japarov said in his address.
"Aksy people sacrificed their lives for freedom and justice, demonstrated bravery of Kyrgyz people and defended honor of the nation," Japarov said.
"The lessons of Aky events urge us to build a new society with high national values, to carry out fair and impartial policy, to strengthen democratic governance that will serve interests of people. They also inspire us to improve our society," Japarov said.
The flowers at the monument were also laid by Chief of President's Administration Suyunbek Kasmambetov and acting mayor of Bishkek Baktybek Kudaibergenov.
