Shorter road to Sokh ecnalve of Uzbekistan reopened through Kyrgyzstan after 8 years of closure

AKIPRESS.COM - Kaitpas and Otukchu border crossing points on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek reopened in Batken region.
The official opening ceremony was attenedd by Batken region governor Omurbek Suvanaliev and Uzbekistan's Ferghana region governor Khairullo Bozarov on April 1.
The agreement on reopening of Kaitpas border crossing point was reached during talks held between the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on March 11-12 in Tashkent. This border crossing point was closed due to coronavirus pandemic.
Citizens of Uzbekistan will cross into Kyrgyzstan through Kaitpas border crossing point (Rishtan from the side of Uzbekistan), they will transit the territory of Kyrgyzstan to Sokh district. They will cross the border through Otukchu point (Tul from the Uzbek side) and will enter Sokh district of Uzbekistan.
This way the road from Rishtan district of Ferghana reigon to Sokh district through Kyrgyzstan was reopened. The road was closed in 2013 after Kyrgyz-Uzbek border conflict.
Citizens of Uzbekistan traveled 80 km before to get to Sokh. Now they will travel just 19 km.
