AKIPRESS.COM - Tashkent mayor Jahangir Artikhojaev promised to liquidate unemployment among youth by September 2021. At the meeting with youth representatives on March 31, mayor Artikhojaev said he plans to fulfill this task with help of private sector.
"There are more than 87,000 companies in Tashkent. These are companies standing firmly on their feet. We will add one person to work in them and this way we wil employ 87,000 people," the mayor stated.
According to the mayor, 23,000 young people do not have job in Tashkent.
"Not a single unemployed person will remain by September," the mayor said.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the unemployment rate in Tashkent made 7.8% in the second quarter of last year. The real number of unemployed citizens is expected to be much higher than official figure. When talking about youth, the mayor means citizens aged between 18 and 30 years. Since the population of Tashkent makes around 3 million, the number of 23,000 unemployed citizens is not that big for the capital.
Uzbekistan declared the nation-wide campaign "Each entrepreneur is supporter of youth" since the beginning of this year. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to hire unemployed citizens aged 18-30 years. They are offered privileges in exchange for employment of unemployed citizens.
