AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyz Ambassador to Turkey Kubanychbek Omuraliev held a meeting with representatives of the business community at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hatay province of Turkey, where he made a presentation on the investment climate and opportunities in the Kyrgyz Republic, conditions for doing business (liberal taxes, costs of doing business, etc.), macroeconomic indicators and foreign trade turnover of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Foreign Ministry said.
Omuraliev invited businessmen to visit Kyrgyzstan, and answered their questions. The meeting was attended by members of the Turkish Grand National Assembly from Hatay province.
Separate meetings were held with businessmen of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hatay, wishing to open joint ventures in the Kyrgyz Republic and possibly invest in the country's economy. Following the meeting, the businessmen with Mayor of Hatay expressed a desire to visit Kyrgyzstan in June 2021.
The meetings included a visit to the exhibition venues of EXPO 2021 Hatay in the municipalities of Antakya and Iskenderun of Hatay.
Hatay (historically called Antakya) is the administrative center of the province of the same name in southern Turkey on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, bordering with Syria. The population of the province is about 1.6 million people. Iskenderun port in Hatay is one of the largest ports in Turkey. The production of cereals, legumes, olives, citrus fruits, vegetables, fruits, fertilizers, animal husbandry and fishing are well developed. In 2012, UNESCO awarded Hatay the title of "City of Gastronomy" (this status is given to the city of Popayan in Colombia, Chengdu in China and Ostersund in Sweden).
